Although Mickey Rooney had one of the most enduring careers in show business, he died with only $18,000 to his name, RumorFix has learned.
And according to his will obtained by RumorFix, he left everything to his step son Mark Rooney, who was his caretaker for the past two years.
The beloved actor disinherited his wife, her children (except for Mark Rooney) and all eight of his children.
Rooney’s attorney told the AP, the legendary actor’s children were in a better financial situation than Rooney, so he felt it was appropriate to leave Mark Rooney all he had left.
Although Rooney was “technically married” to his eighth wife Janice Rooney, they agreed to live separate and apart from each other permanently — and have been doing so since June 30,2012, court documents read.
Rooney’s will, which was just filed on March 11, named attorney Michael Augustine as executor of his estate, making it clear he didn’t want a relative handling his final affairs.
And as of Tuesday evening — a fight began brewing between Mickey’s last wife and the executor. Jan was trying to move Mickey’s body from Forest Lawn Mortuary, so Augustine is asking for a court order preventing the move. A hearing will be held on April 11.
