Michael Strahan Wednesday confirmed reports that he’ll be joining the team at Good Morning America, but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving his other day job.
The popular co-host of Live With Kelly & Michael is going to be staying put on the popular daytime chat fest.
“Big news, I’m going to be on GMA now …I went to see a Captain America screening and I’m looking at my messages and next thing I know I’m on Good Morning America!” he told the audience.
But he assured Kelly and the audience “This is my home right here. No matter what, I’m going nowhere … you are my love and this is my job. So don’t worry anybody, I’m not going anywhere.”
He knows it will be a challenge to add GMA to his already busy schedule but notes “it’s one of those things that, it (sic) would have to be smart about. It can’t be an everyday thing. I’m already busy enough. If I keep doing this when football season rolls around I’ll be like this” as he mocked snoozing off.
“This is my number one priority, you are my priority and and I love what I do. I’d never do anything to jeopardize the quality of what we do here.”
Strahan is heading to assist on the 8 a.m. hour of GMA following anchor Josh Elliot’s departure to NBC Sunday. His presence will add some testosterone to the on-air team that currently includes Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, Ginger Zee, Amy Robach and George Stephanolpoulos. Live shoots at 9 a.m. so he’s going to be cutting it close driving across town for both jobs.
The NFL Hall of Famer also hosts FOX’s Sunday pro-football coverage based out of LA. He regularly commutes across the coasts through football season to do both his Live and sportscasting gigs.
But he noted that after 15 years in the NFL, “everything I do now, I do out of enjoyment.”
