david-lettermanTalk show legend David Letterman is stepping down from his long running CBS late night show next year.

RumorFix has confirmed the iconic funnyman made the announcement that 2015 will be his final year during the Thursday night show taping. Several musical guests tweeted out the news right after the Letterman taping. Joseph Arthur wrote, “Historical night. Privileged to be here.”

This comes after longstanding rival Jay Leno also signed off from 22 years on The Tonight Show earlier this year.

Fellow late night host Jimmy Kimmel quickly reacted, telling his Twitter followers, “David @Letterman is the best there is and ever was.”

No word yet on who Letterman’s potential replacement will be, but the race will surely be interesting! See the clip here.
