New pictures were released on Wednesday of James Gandolfini’s final movie, The Drop.
The actor, who gained superstar status through the HBO series The Sopranos, died last June of a heart attack at the age of 51.
The film, which is due out on September 19, stars Tom Hardy as a former criminal who tries to clean up his act by becoming a bartender. Gandolfini plays his uncle, another former criminal.
The film’s writer Dennis Lehane, tells USA Today, “There are certain guys out there that are exceptionally rare who can completely feel this type of guy in their bones.” Gandolfini could “speak with a sort of music of the urban experience and do it effortlessly,” he says.
