Kanye West’s attorney has entered a plea of no contest to battery in a July assault against a member of the paparazzi, RumorFix has confirmed.
The rapper was accused of roughing up photographer Daniel Ramos outside of an arrival terminal at LAX in July. Other paparazzi were present and documented the incident.
The judge accepted the plea and sentenced the 36-year-old to a suspended sentence, 24 months probation, anger management classes and 250 hours of community service, our reporter in the courtroom tells us.
Ramos was present alongside his attorney Gloria Allred Monday in court to give his victim impact statement in the case.
“I was only doing my job and he broke the law” Ramos said. The photographer also claims that seven months later he’s “still suffering and taking medication” noting he has pain in his hip as well as “mental and emotional suffering.”
“He needs to be stopped before he can hurt someone else worse than me … I did nothing wrong. I asked him a question.” Ramos said. He also claimed he believed the attack was an excuse for Kanye to promote his album Yeezus and it’s tour.
West was not present at Monday’s hearing. He was represented by attorney Blair Berk.
