Juan Pablo Galavis came under fire in January after making some very controversial comments about the gay lifestyle being “perverted”– a comment that made one castoff in particular cry during Monday night’s Women Tell All.
Kelly Travis opened up to The Bachelor hunk during the ABC special hoping he could explain his remarks. But instead of getting into it on stage, the Latino heartthrob promised Travis that he’d have “an hour long conversation” about it with her personally after the show. A visibly upset Kelly seemed to agree to the private post-show discussion.
However, Kelly, who has a gay father, was never able to get that closure, as JP didn’t take the time to actually meet with her. After the WTA, Kelly took to Twitter to reveal that the two never met up after the show to touch on the topic, as Juan Pablo promised.
Travis continued throughout the show taking out her frustrations via social network, tweeting, “My dad is gay. It’s relevant bc any guy that dates me knows that. If you think my family is more pervert, send me home sooner. #TheBachelor”
In a January interview with The TV Page, the former Venezuelan soccer player was asked what he thought about a gay bachelor, “I don’t think it is a good example for kids” … and then said gay people are “more pervert in a sense.”
After word got out on the Internet, ABC, The Bachelor executive producers and Warner Horizon Television responded with this statement: “Juan Pablo’s comments were careless, thoughtless and insensitive, and in no way reflect the views of the network, the show’s producers or studio.” Soon after, the Latino heartthrob also took to his Facebook page to release a personal apology.
An apology apparently was not good enough for Kelly Travis.
