A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of ’80s singer Anita Baker, RumorFix has confirmed.
The warrant was issued on Wednesday because the singer of “Sweet Love” failed to appear for a subpoena on September 10, 2013 in a lawsuit brought on by Ray A. Smith Painting and Decorating, Inc.
The civil suit claims the singer/songwriter owes the company $15,000 for carpentry, plastering and painting at her Michigan home in 2009.
“My client had done a lot of business with Anita in the past. I don’t understand this,” attorney Dan Gerow tells RumorFix. “I don’t want to see her go to jail — I just want her to pay my client!”
