Do NOT mess with Samuel L. Jackson.
One Los Angeles TV anchor learned that the hard way Monday when he confused the Pulp Fiction legend with another African-American acting great, Laurence Fishburne.
Jackson appeared on the KTLA morning news via satellite from Atlanta to promote the upcoming Robocop reboot. And entertainment anchor Sam Rubin made a MAJOR faux pas.
Less than a minute into the interview he asked Jackson “did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?” However Jackson never did an ad for the Super Bowl. Rubin was referring to a Kia ad featuring Laurence Fishburne.
“You’re as crazy as the people on Twitter. I’m not Laurence Fishburne! We don’t all look alike! We may all be black and famous, but we don’t all look alike!”
“You’re the entertainment reporter for this station and you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne?”
“I’m the ‘what’s in your wallet’ black guy. He’s the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy”
“And I’m the only black guy in Robocop that’s not a criminal!”
Rubin later made an on-air apology.
