Bob Costas Sidelined For A Second Night Of Olympic Coverage Due To Eye Infection

costasBob Costas' eye infection is going to keep him off the air for a second night of Winter Olympics coverage.

Matt Lauer had to take over NBC''s Tuesday night broadcasting duties after Costas' pink eye spread to both eyes, making it difficult for him to appear on camera and inspired a host of Internet memes, as well as it's own Twitter account.

He told The Today Show on Wednesday that while he's not feeling physically ill, the condition was making it hard do the job he's done for years.

“I’ve done lots of ball games and events feeling much less than my best,” Costas said. “My eyes are so blurry and watery and become so light-sensitive, they’re constantly tearing up. And I can’t be in the studio.”
