pdsIn case you’re just catching on to CMT’s wild new reality show Party Down South, we’ve got a southern slang translation guide to help you understand the language of the wild eight.

“Peacockin’”is a struttin’ term for a male trying to attract a female.

Gheens, Louisiana native Maddie Breaux explains she’s a “coonass,” someone from Louisiana who likes to party and get dirty outside.

“Shark hunting” is when ladies are out at the bar and looking for the hottest guy or the biggest catch in the room — which we have a feeling will happen a lot this season.

While for the guys a “marlin” is a hot ass chick, a “snapper” is a medium hot chick and an unattractive girl is a “mullet.”  And Ryan “Daddy” Richards admits he hasn’t seen very many marlins around Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

So now you’ve got your handy dictionary to understand the new cast.

GTL and smush are SO 2009!!
