Tom Cruise has been forced to answer some highly personal questions due to his $50 million lawsuit against two magazines, who claimed the Mission: Impossible star “abandoned” his daughter following his June 2012 split from actress Katie Holmes.
A deposition from the lawsuit has been leaked and the court papers show some tense exchanges with opposing counsel over the topic of his controversial religion – the Church of Scientology.
When asked if Katie tried to “protect” Suri from Scientology by leaving him in June of 2012, Tom fired back:
“Listen, I find that question offensive,” he is quoted. ‘I find it, those statements offensive. Like with any relationship, there are many different levels to it. You know, I, I find it very offensive. There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion.”
The 51-year old superstar was also asked if Scientology was one of the reasons Holmes left him and shockingly, he came pretty close to admitting it, replying: “did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.”
Cruise also admitted his daughter Suri is no longer a practicing Scientologist.
