Jenna Jameson’s downward spiraling media appearances Monday brought back familiar — and tragic — flashbacks of the late Anna Nicole Smith, who was battling prescription drug abuse near the end of her life.
The 39-year-old former porn star was disoriented, incoherent and completely out of it during an interview with Jim Norton and Sam Roberts for their Sirius XM radio show Monday afternoon in New York.
While she was there to promote her new book, Sugar, she hardly mentioned it and instead the painful interview went on for over 20 minutes and was interrupted frequently by bouts of tears, rambling statements and incomplete trains of thought.
While Jenna claimed during the interview that she’s seven years sober, her ex-husband Tito Ortiz has alleged that she’s been battling an addiction to the powerful opiate Oxycontin since 2009.
Sadly we’ve seen interviews and downward spirals like this before, the most obvious one being that of the late Anna Nicole Smith.
Anna was 39 when she passed away from a toxic combination of prescription medication after several years of battling medication abuse. She also was suffering from the depression over the loss of a child as her son, Daniel, who had died the previous year.
One of our editors, Richard Ayoub, interviewed Anna during the height of her drug years and he remembers, “Her speech was slurred, she was tired and, in fact, appeared to fall asleep in the middle of a sentence.”
Richard goes on to say, “When I saw Jenna’s interview Monday — my first thought was Anna Nicole Smith.”
Check out the interviews, The first is Jenna Monday in New York. The next is Anna’s infamous appearance at the American Music Awards back in 2004. Tell us if you see any comparisons.
