Bob Barker Spends Nearly $1 Million To Rescue Zoo Elephants

barker1Animal lover Bob Barker used to sign off every Price Is Right episode by reminding people to help control the pet population by spaying and neutering their pets.  But his good deeds toward animals haven't stopped.

The legendary game show host donated a cool $1 million to relocate three elephants from the Toronto Zoo to a sprawling animal sanctuary in California.

In 2011 -- after pressure from PETA and Zoocheck Canada -- the Toronto City Council agreed that the Performing Animal Welfare Society was a far better home for the majestic creatures than their cramped two acre display at the zoo.

Eighty-nine-year-old Barker paid the entire cost -- estimated to be nearly $1 million --  for their 2,500 mile, 50 hour relocation.  The TV icon has been an ardent advocate of getting the elephants out of the zoo and into their new 86 acre range. "This move  has been a long time coming, but what matters is that the elephants are here," said Barker upon welcoming  Toka, 43, Thika, 33, and Iringa, 44, to the sanctuary.barker2

Yay bob!!! Zoo’s are prisons for innocent animals! No animal should be taken from the wild and forced to be spectacle just for man kind need to see them up close. No zoo home will EVER match their intended habitat.

A lot of those animals were born in the zoos, also zoo’s are not prisons, a lot of zoos do breeding programs that help repopulate animals that are critically endangered, so they don’t go extinct. They are sanctuaries. They may be a place for people to go see animals , they otherwise may never get to see, but they also protect animals. If you were a real animal lover you would understand that, but you are probably just another PETA lover that is highly undereducated.
