Miley Cyrus is speaking out about her controversial and much derided MTV Video Music Awards performance of her hit We Can’t Stop and Blurred Lines alongside Robin Thicke, and not only does she have no apologies about it – she’s GLAD people are talking about it so much.
In an interview with MTV about her performance – where she stripped down to a nude latex bra and undies and used a foam finger for self pleasure – the 20-year-old said “what’s amazing is I think now, and people are still talking about it. They’re over thinking it,” she says. “You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me.”
She wanted to make VMA history, the same way Madonna did with her iconic performance of Like A Virgin and Britney Spears and her snake did with Slave 4 U.
“Me and Robin [Thicke,] the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now.”
Well, she did make history. We’re just not sure it will be a memory of greatness like some of those before her.
