Miley Cyrus was scheduled to be on the December cover of the coveted fashion Bible Vogue. But her crude performance at the MTV Video Music Awards has allegedly cost her the prestigious honor.
According to several online reports, the We Can’t Stop singer had already shot the photos for the December cover and longtime editor-in-chief Anna Wintour wanted to herald the 20-year-old as a new cutting edge fashion star.
But Miley’s latex bikini/foam finger performance killed off her chance at the big cover. The negative blowback from her provocative performance was just too much for Vogue to justify a close association by featuring her as their holiday cover girl.
That’s not to say she won’t still make the magazine. Her photo shoot apparently went well and there will be an article inside the magazine featuring the Wrecking Ball singer. But the coveted cover will reportedly be going to someone else, with Wintour deciding to take the issue in a “new direction” after Miley’s distasteful performance.
A Vogue spokesperson said they don’t comment on rumors about future editorial content.
