We love Lance Bass’ sense of humor.
In the wake of rumors swirling that ‘NSYNC will reunite to perform at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, he knew all eyes would be on his Twitter for some type of response.
He gave one … and a shout out to an obscure 1986 R&B hit.
“Look at all these Rumors” Bass posted Tuesday afternoon, followed by a link to a song on YouTube by the Timex Social Club called Rumors.
And lots of people followed Lance’s link. The you tube page had over 75,000 views by mid-Tuesday afternoon, and we’re guessing that obscure song – there isn’t even a video for it, just a still graphic – probably started the day with less than 1,000 views.
Timex Social Club, wherever you are today you should give Lance Bass a big thanks for reviving that long lost hit.
The New York Post reported Tuesday morning that the former boy band would reunite after Justin Timberlake receives the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony. The last time ‘NSYNC performed live together was back in 2004 when they sang the Star Spangled Banned at a children’s charity. So as for the reunion, file that one under still a rumor. But at least Lance knows everyone’s hoping it’s true!
UPDATE: On Tuesday, Lance Bass addressed the rumors on his Sirius XM radio show Dirty Pop with Lance Bass:
“…I have to address the rumors…this morning I woke up to a lot of rumors flying [around] that the ‘NSYNC reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday. Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson [Video] Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly. We all came down here [to Miami] except for J.C. [Chasez]—J.C. stayed in California, he had to work…Joey [Fatone], Chris [Kirkpatrick] and myself went to go see Justin’s last show with Jay Z at the [Sun Life] Stadium last Friday, and I even took a picture of it, it’s on my Instagram …[it was] really fun and…I think that’s what started the rumor that there’s going to be this big reunion with ‘NSYNC…it’s amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media…[and] how many people are supporting ‘NSYNC. It’s so nice to see because when we ended things [over] ten years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter [fan base], but it’s so cute to see how many people are supporting [us] and ‘NSYNC was even trending…”
When told by Real Housewife of Miami Lea Black that fans should demand a reunion, Lance responded, “That would be an amazing time.”
