Is the 13-year marriage between Hollywood heavyweights Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones over? Not quite, but the couple are taking some time apart.
A rep for the couple tells RumorFix that “Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment.”
The pair has not been photographed together since April. Since then, Catherine spent a month in a Connecticut mental health facility to deal with issues related to her bipolar-2 disorder while Michael had a busy schedule in May promoting his HBO Liberace biopic Behind The Candelabra. He then spent early summer filming a movie with Diane Keaton.
It’s being reported that the stress of Catherine’s mental health issues and 68-year-old Michael’s now successful battle with throat cancer have put a great deal of stress on the couple’s relationship and that they’re spending time apart this summer as a result.
43-year-old Catherine supposedly is at the couple’s Westchester, NY estate these days while Michael has been photographed vacationing in Sardinia this month.
We should soon get an idea what the status of the couple is when Michael attends the 2013 Emmy Awards Sunday September 22nd, where he’s nominated for best lead actor in a miniseries or movie for his role as Liberace. Will Catherine be by his side?
