Although we live in Los Angeles, it’s not often that we interview a young actress destined for stardom. But, it happened when Brittany Furlan walked in our RumorFix offices.
With 1.4 million followers, Brittany is the most famous woman on the app Vine and is fast becoming the most popular person on the six second video phenomenon.
All day people came up to me and asked, “Was that the girl from Vine? I love her.”
Brittany is refreshingly honest and non-tainted by Hollywood — yet. She arrived alone — no handlers — even though she just signed with a high-powered Hollywood talent agency.
Her responses to my questions were unfiltered and funny. You can tell she hasn’t been media trained to be sterile and normal.
Brittany acknowledges that she’s “goofy” and that’s definitely her appeal. She’s the girl girls wants to hang out with and guys want to hook up with. (Sorry guys — her fiance is Randal Kirk II, a LA filmmaker who appears in many of her videos.)
While talking to the 26-year-old, I felt like I was talking to the Wizard of Oz and found out what was behind the curtain. The comedic actress says, “My ideas just come from walking around and looking at things or looking at videos.”
Her character “The Beekeeper” was based on the Nicki Minaj music video “Beez In The Trap.”
“What a weird thing — bees in your vagina,” she says. So she created this mustached beekeeper, who tells horrible jokes. That spun off into Abdul Chien, the horny yoga instructor, and Natalie Nature, the tree hugger who’s tag line is “I love it.”
During our interview, Brittany said she looks up to actresses like Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig.
We could definitely see her following in their footsteps and landing a gig on Saturday Night Live!
