Actress Leah Remini has spoken out for the first time since her decision to leave the controversial Church of Scientology.
The former King of Queens star spoke to reporters at the 15th annual Design Care benefit at a private residence in Malibu over the weekend.
“I believe that people should be able to question things. I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that’s what I’m about,” the 43-year-old star told People. “It wouldn’t matter what it was, simply no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to.”
She added, “I’m not about to shut up.”
Leah later told Us Magazine “I think the fact that my family has taken a stance and we are on a united front says a lot.”
