After weeks of rumors, Jenny McCarthy has been announced as the new co-host of The View, replacing outgoing Joy Behar.
“We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host on The View starting in September,” said chief panelist Barbara Walters on Monday’s show. “Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View.”
On her blog, Jenny commended VH1 for letting her out of her late night contract to do the daytime show on ABC. “Fortunately, the executives at Vh1 also knew these opportunities don’t happen that often, and they allowed me to make the move with their loving support. It’s proof that I was working with some amazing people over there, and I will continue to do more with them — outside of talk — in the future,” she wrote.
The 40-year-old former Playboy Playmate has appeared on the show 17 times and guest hosted eight times. Her first episode is slated for September 9th.
