The news that Glee star Cory Monteith died of a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol is bound to shock many of his co-stars, who spoke highly of his work ethic and devotion to sobriety.
Cory’s co-star Jane Lynch, who has been sober for 21 years, told Larry King in an interview taped prior to the 31-year-old’s death, “He went to rehab, and he’s out now and he’s doing great. He was sober for many, many years. And he’s a young man. So he just had to kind of renew his vows to sobriety.”
Monteith was found deceased in a Vancouver, British Columbia hotel room Saturday. The BC coroner’s office confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the actor died of drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol. He went to rehab in April after a relapse but by all accounts from those connected to the show he was back on the wagon following the stint in treatment.
