Harry Potter mastermind JK Rowling has a new book out. But this time it doesn’t have anything to do with wizardry.
In stealth fashion, she published The Cuckoo’s Calling under the name Robert Galbraith. Her publisher, Mulholland Books, described the author as a former member of the Special Investigative Branch of the Royal Military Police.
“I hoped to keep this secret a little longer, because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience.” Rowling said in a statement. “It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a different name.”
After word got out who “Robert Galbraith” really was, sales on Amazon.com soared more than 507,000% after the Harry Potter genius acknowledged being the author.
