Clarence House has just announced that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Kate went into labor around 5:30am London time. The Palace announced late Monday that the baby the baby arrived at 4:24 p.m. London time and weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz.
Prince William was by his wife’s side through the delivery. Clarence House announced on Twitter that “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & families have been told and are delighted.”
They added “her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”
That means the third in line to the throne will one day be King, behind his father Prince William and grandfather Prince Charles.
And, of course, no Royal announcement is complete without an official word from The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, who released the following statement just moments ago, “Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy. Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
