sharkWe told you Thursday about the huge amount of buzz surrounding the Syfy cable network movie Sharknado, where a tornado sucks up sharks from the ocean and dumps them all over the city of Los Angeles.  Yes, a so truly awful it must be amazing premise.  Not to mention it starred Tara Reid and 90210′s Ian Ziering.

Well, it more than lived up to the hype.  Sharknado was the most tweeted about show in prime time TV Thursday night, gathering over 360,000 Twitter interactions.  Here’s a sampling from celebs who were sucked in to the tornado-shark storm:

Ian Ziering:  “#Sharknado Hell hath no fury like a pissed Great White Shark that gets sucked out of the ocean and dropped in #90210”

Rich Eisen: “I can’t believe my phone doesn’t recognize Sharknado as a word.”

Patton Oswalt: “No way is SHARKNADO as entertaining as the Tweets about it. Congrats, @SyfyTV. You’ve created a new way to watch movies.”

Colin Hanks: According to the number of people talking about Sharknado in my timeline, it is the biggest film in cinema history.

Chad Lowe:  Why have we not been throwing bombs into tornadoes to stop them? Or are we doing it, and I’m just now learning about it? #Sharknado

B.J. Novak: “I’m afraid that now when we have a real sharknado everyone’s going to treat it like a joke.”

Jackson Rathbone: “Hoping for a movie called #Cowquake Where earthquakes unleash the inner rage of the cows.”

Damon Lindelof:  “I am going to write the Sharknado sequel and I am going to do it before Shaknado is over.”  Followed by “I know it’s only been 12 hours, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to talk about anything non-Sharknado-related again.”  Followed again by “ For those of you already maligning my ending for SHARKNADO 2, you should know 3 things: Henry Winkler.  Leather jacket.  Water skiis.”

Elizabeth Banks: “@DamonLindelof did Tessa already take revenge on the guy who harpooned mom or am I dating his son in #sharknado2 #backstory.”  Followed by “well, there goes my Emmy. RT @Syfy: . @oliviawilde @mia farrow. We have roles for you both in the #Sharknado sequel @damonlindelof is writing”

Olivia Wilde: “@ElizabethBanks Banks, this is our chance to play Siamese twins: two heads, one magnificent shark tail. Emmys all around. #SharknadoTwo.”

And a personal favorite, someone asked hero Newark Mayor and political star Cory Booker about it and he is putting a plan together to fight off any Sharknado incidents in New Jersey:  “Understanding serious nature of this threat,  Newark OEM put together an action plan. We’re prepared!”

Now if Syfy will only give us a sequel on Piranhaconda!
