Lil’ Scrappy escaped jail time by going to rehab for his marijuana addiction and he wants to share his sobriety story with teens, RumorFix has learned exclusively.
The star of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta is being released from rehab this weekend after successfully completing a 30-day in-treatment program and he says he’s a changed man.
Scrappy was on probation for a marijuana possession charge when he was accused of failing a drug test. The judge gave him the option of serving the rest of his three years probation in jail or going to rehab — since he went the rehab, the judge is allowing him to be back on probation.
So, the grateful rapper has volunteered to talk to teens about being drug-free and the consequences of the “thug life.”
“I feel really blessed to have had the opportunity to address the reasons for my addictions,” Lil’ Scrappy said in a statement to RumorFix. “I took my treatment very seriously and met the challenges presented to me. I’m a changed man for the better. Kids need to know the consequences of their actions. The kids can learn from my mistakes along with my road to recovery.”
Scrappy’s attorney Mawuli Mel Davis will join him for his speaking engagements.
