RumorFix has confirmed that one of TV’s greatest sitcom producers has died.
Gary David Goldberg, who was the mastermind behind Family Ties, Spin City and Brooklyn Bridge, suffered from brain cancer.
Gary passed away in Montecito, two days shy of his 69th birthday.
He once said to aspiring writes, “What you want are those laughs of recognition where the audience sees something of themselves in that moment.”
The prolific TV producer was famous for his closing credits animation with a dog and the announcer saying “Sit Ubu Sit.” Interestingly, Gary actually had a dog named Ubu.
He also worked on the Tony Randall Show, Lou Grant and M*A*S*H.
Gary produced a YouTube video called “Life and Times of Gary David Goldberg,” which we think is the perfect tribute to him in his words.
