On last year’s The Real Housewives of Orange County reunion, Tamra Barney referred to Alexis Bellino as “Jesus Jugs.” Shortly thereafter, rumors circulated that the Bellinos were threatening to sue Tamra for the “Jesus Jugs” comment. But, Alexis told Us Weekly the insulting term wasn’t the reason, but the threat did “shut her up.”
Now only RumorFix can tell you the real reason behind the threat.
Sources close to the show tell our Real Mr. Housewife that Alexis was worried that Tamra would talk about Jim’s past autograph selling business, which was very controversial.
Jim was mentioned in a book called Operation Bullpen: The Inside Story of the Biggest Forgery Scam in American History, which is about an autograph forgery ring that ripped off fans for $100 million. Jim was accused of being the person who authenticated the fake signatures, but he was never charged.
Our source says, “Jim was afraid that Tamra would talk about it on the show, potentially exposing him.”
To be fair, all these allegations were lodged in 1999 — well before he and Alexis joined RHOOC -- and he was never charged with anything, so it would make sense he didn’t want that past brought up.
Jim has said he “was neither tried nor convicted of any crime because I never would knowingly buy or sell an illegitimate or forged autograph.” His company, did however, end up closing.
RumorFix reached out to Tamra for her comments on this, and she has declined to comment on the information we have received. We also reached out to Jim Bellino, but he has not responded.
