Someone needs to put Scrubs star Zach Braff in charge of finances for a movie studio.
In just hours, the actor/director/writer has been able to raise $1 million — half his goal in his Kickstarter campaign to shoot his new movie Wish I Was Here, which he wrote with his brother.
Zach is appealing to fans who loved his film Garden State. He says the “money guys” want to invest, but they are insisting on “final cut” and they want to “control how the film is cast.”
Zach wants to cast Jim Parsons and Chris Hardwick with a cameo from Don Faison. But, he’s not sure that the “money guys” will go along with that.
So, Zach decided to follow in the footsteps of Kristen Bell, who raised money for the Veronica Mars movie, and start his own campaign.
“I want to bring you my fans the truest representation of what I have in my brain. That means I’ll have the final cut of what ends up in the movie. And I get to only cast the actors I think are perfect for the roles,” he says.
Wednesday afternoon Zach tweeted, “1 million in 12 hours. I am speechless. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Lets do this.”
