Reese Witherspoon was arrested in Atlanta in the wee hours of Friday morning after her husband was stopped for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, RumorFix has confirmed.

Police tell RumorFix Reese’s husband, Jim Toth, faces a DUI charge after driving in the wrong lane. Police say he blew a .139 on a Breathalyzer.

“Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer,” according to the police report obtained by Variety. “I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet.”

After Toth was arrested, Reese was told to get in her car, when she “stated that she was a ‘US citizen’ and that she was allowed to ‘stand on American ground.’”

The officer reports that when he then tried to handcuff Reese,  she asked, “‘Do you know my name?’ I answered, “No, I don’t need to know your name.” I then added, “right now.” Mrs. Witherspoon stated, “You’re about to find out who I am. Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, ‘You are going to be on national news.’ I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine.”

Reese was arrested for disorderly conduct (obstruction). They both were released on bond at about 3:30 a.m. ET on Friday. Reese’s publicist wasn’t available for comment.

I would hope, if not then I lost a lot of respect for her…mind you, being drunk is not really a good excuse.

definitely not a good excuse…im just saying “Im a US citizen and I’m allowed to ‘stand on American ground” would never be said by someone sober
