Speculation that Dexter would be coming to a close after Season Eight has been the talk of the town lately.
But now, RumorFix can confirm it’s the real deal. The beloved team at the fictional Miami Metro Police Department will say farewell after the season eight finale, Showtime has confirmed on Thursday.
“When it debuted in 2006, Dexter redefined the genre, by taking the anti-hero to new heights and pushing the boundaries of the television landscape,” Showtime chief Matthew Blank said in a press release. “Dexter paved the way for the next generation of award-winning hit Showtime series, and its cultural impact will be felt for years to come.”
The series stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter pattern analyst for the MMPD who also leads a secret life as a serial killer.
Season Eight begins June 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
