Despite pleas from the cast members, MTV has officially canceled Buckwild following the tragic death of one of its stars.
Production on the controversial rural reality show was immediately suspended last week when Buckwild star Shain Gandee was found dead in a submerged Ford Bronco. The death was ruled accidental as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Gandee, his uncle, and a third friend were mudding in backwoods of West Virginia at the time.
Local leaders who have long protested the MTV series immediately called for the show’s cancellation. However, the future of the ratings hit has been in question until now.
Just days after Shain Gandee was laid to rest, MTV released a short statement moments ago thanking Buckwild fans for their love.
The remaining cast and fans of the show are angry with MTV’s decision and have taken to Twitter using the hashtags #KeepBuckwildForShain and #MTVDontStopBuckwild.
The cast is begging for the network to air season 2 of Buckwild in honor of their fallen friend.
