Valerie Harper’s husband, Tony Cacciotti, hid Valerie’s terminal diagnosis from her, RumorFix has learned.
Tony revealed the shocking news while taping The Doctors, which airs Monday March 11 in syndication. It was the couple’s first on-camera interview following her announcement of terminal brain cancer.
The 73-year-old, who is best know for her roles in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off Rhoda, found out about her cancer in January. But Tony tells The Doctors he initially hid the diagnosis from the TV star. “Poor baby,” Valerie said. “He was bereft. [The doctors] said, ‘There is nothing we can do for her and [she has] three to six months; maybe.’”
The Doctors co-host and ER physician Dr. Travis Stork said, “I have to tell you I am blown away by her resilience and her resolve in the face of such a dire, dire diagnosis.”
