On Valentine’s Day, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara is revealing she almost got arrested the day she got engaged, RumorFix is reporting.
The Latin hottie tells Ellen DeGeneres the proposal went down during her 40th birthday in July in Chichen Itza, Mexico.
Sofia says she took a group of her family and friends including her co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen to see the pyramids and then her fiance, Florida businessman Nick Loeb, told her, “Let’s go take a picture up there.”
That’s where he popped the question.

Problem is — the couple crossed a rope where the public isn’t allowed.
Sofia told Ellen, “He had said he had gotten permission. I swear to God he said he had gotten permission to go up there and take a picture so I said, ‘OK let’s go.’ So I went up. he took the ring out there.”
She adds, “I put it on immediately and I said, ‘Yes.’”
Needless to say, the star and her husband-to-be didn’t get arrested and they are living happily ever after.
