With all this recent talk about pranks and hoaxes, we thought it would be a good idea to highlight a show on Spike called The Joe Schmo Show.
It’s a ten episode show featuring a real guy who thinks he’s on a reality show looking for America’s Next Bounty Hunter and a chance to win $100,000. This goes on for a year and the Joe Schmo (aka Chase Rogan) doesn’t know the entire show is fake and so is the job he’s competing for.
“A hoax of this magnitude has never been pulled off before in TV, especially not one this funny, or with so much at stake,” says Co- Executive Producer Kara Kurcz.
The entire thing is scripted and the fellow contestants are actors including appearances by Lorenzo Lamas, whose character was voted off last week.
Executive Producer J. Holland Moore tells RumorFix, “Lorenzo’s Lamas character, based off a has been celebrity that will do anything to get attention, got such an overwhelming response Lorenzo has found a new career in stand up. (based on his life) He is a natural. I just hope his four ex-wives don’t get custody of half his punchlines.”
The Joe Schmo Show airs Tuesday nights at 9 p. m. on Spike.
