Beyonce is being accused of lip-syncing a beautiful and moving rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” and President Obama’s Inauguration on Monday.
A rep for the United States Marine Band confirmed the news to USA Today, saying the R&B singer decided at the last minute to not sing a live version.
“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois, a rep for the band, told Page Six. “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why.”
If Beyonce did lip-sync, it would make her decision to remove her earpiece in the middle of the song a bit odd and unnecessary. RumorFix has reached out to her camp for comment, but what do you think? Was B faking the funk?
