Two days after Beyonce sang the national anthem at President Obama’s inaugural, a rep for the Marine Band appears to be telling a different story.
On Monday, media rep Kristin DuBois told the press that Beyonce did indeed lip sync “The Star Spangled Banner.”
But now, another media spokesperson, Captain Kendra N. Motz, tells RumorFix, “Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter’s vocal performance, no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded.”
The captain explains that, “There was no opportunity for Ms. Knowles-Carter to rehearse with the Marine Band before the Inauguration so it was determined that a live performance by the band was ill-advised for such a high-profile event. Each piece of music scheduled for performance in the Inauguration is pre-recorded for use in case of freezing temperatures, equipment failure, or extenuating circumstances.”
Beyonce hasn’t responded to the claims, she’s busy rehearsing for the Superbowl. But her Destiny’s Child band mate, Michelle Williams says, “With big crowds and echoes, you know when it’s a big historical moment, you don’t want any room for mistakes, so I can understand why it was done.”
