R&B singer Trey Songz is denying a rumor that a weekend murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs lineman Jovan Belcher was over him. According to one media outlet, Belcher suspected his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins was cheating on him with the singer after she returned home late on Saturday morning from Trey’s concert.
Belcher and Perkins got into an argument and Belcher reportedly shot and killed her before heading to the Chiefs facility where he killed himself in front of his coach, Romeo Crennel.
Trey responded to the rumors directly on Twitter, writing:
“I don’t delete tweets, nor am I insensitive to death. I had no knowledge of the murder/suicide incident until now and even still as sad as it may be, it has nothing to do with me. Sending prayers up to the families and friends of the people involved.”
Members of Perkins’ family claim that the couple’s relationship was strained long before Trey’s concert, but what exactly sparked their final fight remains a mystery.
