Two Australian women have been catapulted into the spotlight after New York’s most eligible bachelor tried to pick them up during a baseball game. Kyna Treacy and Katie Quinn are speaking exclusively to our friends over at Inside Edition about the night Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez asked them for their numbers on—of all things—a baseball tossed into the stands.
The girls say A. Rod wasn’t the only one trying to pick them up. A second player sent them a text message, wanting to know more about them, but since they’re not regular baseball fans, they say they have no idea who it was. “It’s a mystery. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble. It’s just a little bit of fun,” Katie explains.
Treacy and Quinn’s were at their first Yankees game when a ball came at them toward the end of Saturday’s game with the message, “Hope you’re enjoying the game. Would you please write down your numbers?”
“We thought it was a joke. We were like, ‘Does this normally happen?’” Katie says, adding that while she doubts anything will come from flirting with the players, she’s enjoying the attention. “In New York, anything can happen. Dreams really do come true.”
