Is LuAnn De Lesseps The Next To Get Dumped From RHONY?

Posted on October 9th, 2012 at 11:33 am
Still A Rumor

On Monday night’s Real Housewives of New York Reunion show, LuAnn De Lesseps was seated the farthest away from host Andy Cohen, so our RumorFix Housewives blogger Alex McCord is questioning her future on the reality TV show.

“The people, who are farthest away from Andy — at the far end of the couch — are most in risk of not coming back for the following season,” Alex shares the little known secret with us.

There are exceptions, “I was at the far end of the couch for four years, but I managed to come back,” she adds.

Alex, who now stars with husband Simon Van Kempen on Couples Therapy, is upset that that no one calls LuAnn out in person, “Carole [Radziwill] kept doing it behind her back.”

The former RHONY cast member says only two people in history of the show have ever challenged the countess in person — Alex and Bethenny Frankel. “Mhmm neither of us are on the show any more — food for thought,” she says.

Alex, who says she was touched that the cast said they missed her and other former cast members, reveals, “I’m enjoying covering Housewives and the whole franchise more than being a Housewife.”

      More Alex.  Just more please.

      • Goergie Porgie

Speak for yourself!  I loved Simon!

    • Jillian

If Andy asked me I would say I miss you and Simon and wish you would return to the RHNY or a better program for you all.   Carol did put the program down as a case in study and she certainly can’t remove herself for being a part of the show.   LuMann needs to be taken off the couch and return to doing nothing at home and asking for free dresses.   LuMan is BORING.  Aviva needs to go to therapy and be taken off television, she is a mean hateful lunactic from what I have seen on the show.   I love Ramona and Sonja and I am proud of them for standing strong against Aviva.   They should continue to be polite to her but I think the would be wise to stay away from her.    Heather is okay since she was nice with Ramona, and so we will see what happens between them next year.   Aviva and LuMann need to go away and never return to the New York Show.   I am sick and tired of both of them.

      • Lizzie

         Love the “LuMan” title :D
LuAnn is boring isn’t she? That’s why she kept trying to come up with a story line, examples: Ramona threatens her, mother/son Noel doesn’t do French homework, asking for loaner dresses, Tomas/Jacques, now I want a baby etc.

I think the stars of the show now are Ramona and Sonja. Carole is a passive/aggressive snob. Heather thinks she’s hip when actually her cutesy baby talk is ridiculous.

        • Jillian

Hi Lizzie,  you are right with what you had to say about both Heather and Carole.

          • KristaB

Totally disagree… Carole and Heather are the new stars and people’s new favs… just take a look on their blogs: they get the highest number of comments every week… Carole is definitely the best. But I get it that no everyone understands her sense of humor.

      • http://www.facebook.com/joan.gilland Joan Gilland

        could not agree more!!

        • Jacob

I agree with you Jillian, LuMann and Aviva need to go away

    • Anonymous

Alex, what do you think of Jill Zarin appearing on WWHL on Monday? Why would Andy bother having her on to talk about being fired? You, Kelly & Cindy aren’t on.  Is there any possibility she would be asked back on the show?

      • T Ell

And her obviously strange retweet about your groupon ??

        • http://twitter.com/mccordalex Alex McCord

As far as JZ on WWHL, good for her AND good for him — hope it’s an interesting segment.  As far as Groupon, Jill and Simon were talking this week and I know she knew it was happening — very nice of her to do that and I thanked her.

          • Jillian

Hey Alex, was Simon “MEAN TWEETING JZ”   roflmaf.    Did she post that tweet yet?

      • Goergie Porgie

Jill became addicted to her fame as a C listed celebrity and can’t quite let it go.  Problem is, she has no fan base despite her claims,

    • Ci112

      A pleasure aas always Alex.

First of all I must congratulate you on couplestherapy. I never heard of it before, but I gave it 10 polite trial minutes, bc I do miss seeing you on the screen. AND IT IS GOOD! I saw the entire episode and I will be watching again.

As for the speedbump clip, I do recall there being some in the earlier renions, especially the one where Ramona suddenly walks in the middle of a discussion, and Andy has to guide her back to her seat, like a shepherd with his naughty lamb.
Although I must admit I am feeling disappointment that there are only two parts, and that says to me, that the ladies didn’t bring the drama. And I think it is because they all are over it and don’t bother to even listen to anymore of Avivas excuses.

I am just a bit confused, by subjects they discuss. because for those who haven’t watched all the wwhl episodes, there are still a lot of things to discss and resolve.

And I do agree with you. I saw a hypocritical side to Carole. It was like she was looking down on her co-stars and it really makes me wonder abot the fact that she only talks smack in her interviews. I makes her look insincere. And her arguments were bullshit, espcially for journalist- cause we all know she is not a butcherswife.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ToniScurlock Toni Scurlock

Good job, Alex.  Frankly, I think Aviva more or less did herself in.  Yes, her story about her leg is terrible.  However, the result that most people see is now, a mean self-pitying, spoiled brat who somehow has a sense of “entitlement,”  AND a gross, crude inappropriate dirty old man for a father..   Plus, there was a real “viciousness” about Aviva and add in her “white trash” comment, along with something her father said to Carole about Ramona and the “trailer” she lives in, and you get the idea these are really a couple who look down their noses at other people…  There went, the “empathy vote” right out the window and LuAnn may get a reprieve because Aviva may go…  Best of luck to you and Simon with the new series!!

    • Chaka Pettigrew

      I love it..Good job:)

    • Pam Dryburgh

Great recap Alex.  I don’t have much to say about the reunion other than I do believe that Carole thinks this show is all a game for her, something to fill some time with.  And, is that really so bad?  Otherwise this whole season really didn’t do anything for me.

      • http://www.blogger.com/profile/08288674261802035973 Bryan

Why shouldn’t it be a game to her? all these shows can’t be taken seriously.

        • http://twitter.com/mccordalex Alex McCord

It’s totally fine to view doing a reality show as a game — she just shouldn’t be surprised when the other cast members get upset with her slamming them.

    • Pam Dryburgh

p.s.  all the comments wanting Alex and Simon back on, well of course your fans would love that, but it is my belief that you both have moved on to bigger and much better things……always wish nothing but the best for you both.

      • http://www.blogger.com/profile/08288674261802035973 Bryan

Yeah this latest gig sound really promising.

    • http://www.facebook.com/amber.lyons Amber Buckley Lyons

Alex, I wish you had commented on Carole’s habit of cozying up to the men on the show i.e. Reid and George, at the expense of the castmates. She does appear also, to be the biggest snob of them all while accusing Luanne of being a one-upper and obsessed with her title. As for Luanne’s future on the show, it would be fine with me to see her go since she refuses to acknowlege the only interesting story line she had this season. I would love to see you again. I did watch Couple’s Therapy just for you and Simon, but the disgusting “couple” of the old guy and the teenage wanna-be makes the show unallowable in my household. And the fact that her parents gave their permission for her to get married just make the situation even more disturbing. Sorry, I know it is not your fault and you handled it very maturely, I would have walked out!

      • Anonymous

If I were Carole I would be a snob too. Sure she agreed to the show, but she and Heather are the only 2 accomplished and sane women on the show. Ramona and Sonja, sure they’re fun but both are borderline delusion/insane, LuMann and Sonja basically married money and are riding that train into the sunset. Aviva is also possibly nuts. It must be hard to deal with all the craziness and stay somewhat humble.

    • Late4lynette

Aviva’s story of what happened to her leg is tragic. However, it is a cautionary tail of the dangers of children being too close to farm equipment. Too many are killed or hurt every year on dangerous equipment. I imagine her father has felt guilty all these years and would do anything for her. She is spoiled rotten. I understand why, but a spoiled brat at her age is not likable.

      • Blue

I thought she lost her leg to an escalator.

        • Late4lynette

it was a conveyor belt that spreads manure.

        • http://www.facebook.com/ToniScurlock Toni Scurlock

She may have lost A leg to an escalator but not THAT leg..  I think the leg she lost as a child she lost in a conveyor belt used to transfer manure from one location to another on a farm…

    • Countless Squishy

First: We def. miss you, Simon and the chums. Second: You and Bethenny will always stand out to me as the people who told Luann the truth, to her FACE. I gather her (Luann) “masterpiece” book did in fact NOT include a chapter on proper conversational etiquette. Between her “you know’s” and bulldozing over other’s while they are speaking, she’s done very well in the way of demolishing a fan following. She’s a liar, lacks manners, and frankly would be more fun if she acted how she REALLY is. At least it would be good tv. All the best to you and yours and thank you for sharing your journey in “Couple’s Therapy”.

    • Lizzie

Alex – great job yet again. But I was hoping you would comment on LuAnn / Tomas / Jacques issue as it was brought up a little on the Reunion 1 show. LuAnn seems to get away with murder every year, and I thought perhaps for once she would actually have to account for her actions. It seems like Andy always lets her off the hook! Is there some friendship between them that makes Andy no go after LuAnn the way he does Ramona et al?

Also several weeks ago I got sick of Aviva telling her leg story – it must have aired at least 10 times by the Reunion – and then bam Andy does it again. She’s as koo koo as Kelly! That’s the problem. I agree with Ramona and Sonja she needs a new therapist. It was pathetic sitting there listening to Aviva & the story, and then knowing she screwed up w/ viewers keeps trying to have her generic apology heard by Sonja and Ramona. She and Carole both don’t get being on reality tv, and Heather is just trying to sell her brand all the time a la Cindy Barshop.

I miss the old crowd of #RHONY, including you! And by the way I did watch you guys on Couples Therapy. Hope all goes well for you, and my what a cast they put together for your show! Yikes :)

    • http://twitter.com/LindaNTyler LINDA N-TYLER

Hi Alex! I think Aviva needs to check out of NHNY and get serious therapy! She was only saying what she thought the viewers wanted to hear her say.. sorry to Ramona and Sonja! I’d like to know why after the blow up she went after Sonja in the kitchen the next week? She said herself Sonja got caught in the crossfire when she had the screaming match when she go there and called them white trash, so why did she go after Sonja again? She is nothing like Sonja in her life. The only thing in comman is going through divorce. Luann certainly stirred that pot in St Barths to cause all the hated words afterwords. I’m glad Heather and Ramona are kind of friends, although seeing a preview for next week, I think my views of Heather will change. Sonja and Ramona are my favs, so if anyone crosses them, I think they’d  better watch out! The two of them make that show. Carole.. she is a sweet nice person, but needs to stand up more for herself. My prayer is that Aviva who sat in spot one (uggh) doesn’t return next season. I don’t want to hear about her phobias again and again!! She can leave and you come back Alex!!! =)

    • Anonymous

I agree with what you said…I wonder if there is anymore they could do with LuAnn. I was very disappointed in her this season…The only royalty she resembled was Catherine the Great. She certainly didn’t act like a Countess. I didn’t like Heather at first, but ended up liking her more than Aviva. I find Aviva one note, what with all the phobias. Carole can’t remain so uninvolved and trying to be miss goody two shoes, she needs to spice it up a bit. Ramona always and continues to get on my nerves. And finally love Sonja the most, since she has lived a life of wealth, but is trying to overcome her adversities since her divorce. Ya think old man Morgan  would think more of his daughter and settle with her mother, so they can put all the animosity behind them and move on. Finally, what’s all this with Harry Dubin? From what I can see he’s no George Clooney?

    • http://twitter.com/BobbiNJ Bobbi

I really hope RumorFix will have you vlog another of the HW franchises. RHOBH is coming up soon……..lol

      Great job as always, Alex!

    • lilymaid

As for Aviva, entitled is the word.  She has been spoiled and indulged because of her accident. She imagines the world is revolving around her. Her issues involving heights and enclosure, planes, trains and everything else are an attention mechanism and pure bs.  At best she is a bore, her father is a bore.  Has he had one interesting conversation. I am proud of Sonja and Ramona standing up to her.  Ramona, ditch this royal blue love affair you have with strapless dresses.  I loved the two spaghetti strap dresses you wore to the fund raisers, absolutely smashing. Luman, you are so boring and starting to show your age.  Carole ditch the Kennedy bandwagon, that is so yesterday.  Stop assuming you are above the rest of these women, you are there and part of this dreck.  As far as Jill appearing on WWHL….Andy is using her to up his viewers and she is allowing herself to be used just like a prostitute.

You just can’t shut up about LuAnn! You’re pathology is as old as you look Alex. Give it up.

    • http://twitter.com/curtisjunk Curtis Jensen

Alex, another great video, these have made RHONY much funner this year.   I just wanted to comment on Aviva’s apology which I think was sincere, but was also timed to not allow Ramona and Sonja any chance to discuss their own feelings about how they were treated by Aviva.  I think Aviva thought they would just accept the apology and then nobody could go into what a tacky rude hateful nut job she was in the later episodes.   I do wish Ramona and Sonja had found a way of expressing their anger and hurt and accepting the apology with some graciousness, but they were kind of setup in a no win situation by Aviva.

Great job as usual.  Hope you keep doing these.

Alex, at the risk of sounding like a complete Housewife, and ex-Housewife, sycophant I just wanted to say I ordered a set of 10 of your towels through Groupon.

I totally and completely agree with you that Carole acted like she was above it all. She needs to cut it out if she wants fans, because we don’t fall in serious like with people who are oh, so subtly putting us down. If we care enough to watch, she needs to care enough to not act better than the other ladies or the viewers.

      • http://twitter.com/mccordalex Alex McCord

Thank you so much!! Hope you like them! Agree completely — if it’s good enough to participate, don’t put it down.

    • Coupongirls1026

Alex I really love these commentaries, it makes it more interesting to me. When Aviva told her story I did have real empathy for her, I had a friend in high school, who lost his hand in a farm accident similar to Aviva’s. It was devastating, he was a star basketball player and it changed the opportunities in his life. However, he does not use that accident as an excuse for his behavior 25 years later. I hope she was sincere because as a viewer it felt all “SCARY ISLAND” again. I never knew what a speed bump was or that it is a tool to hold your audience through the commericials. I wish someone I.e. “Ramona” would of called Luann out for her hypocritical victim of snobbery, I cannot believe someone didn’t drive a truck through her statement and say, “but Luann how Carol treated you is exactly how you treated Alex McCord, as if she wasn’t quiet good enough to be friends with.”. Missed opportunity, is all I have to say. Good luck on your show I really hope you get to review all of the Housewives franchises. This is definitely your strong suit.

    • Ryan765

Alex, during next week’s video, you should really wrap up all of your videos by giving your opinion on who’s going to get fired from and who’s going to stay on RHONY. :-)

    • StylistaRuby

Alex, great recap, as always. You make the show much more fun to watch. I, for one (and apparently one of the very few who’ve commented) am a huge fan of Carol’s. I think she’s bright, funny and stays above the fray. I don’t believe that what she says is behind the backs of the others. She knows her comments are being filmed and will be seen by the other Housewives. I think her comments are intentionally funny and snarky. She’s to this year’s season what Bethenny was to past seasons – a bright spot, imo. I also love Heather and her honesty, humor, compassion and endless patience in dealing with Sonja who used to be a fave of mine but, since joining forces with Ramona and stooping to her level, no longer appeals. Wish the old Sonja would make a reappearance. She was bright, funny, self-depracating and charming. The Ramonja one is immature, self-involved and, frankly, ridiculous. I believed and appreciated Aviva’s apology, which I thought was heartfelt and not at all manipulated by the viewers’ reactions, a la Jill Zarin, who, I don’t think, knows the meaning of the word sincerity. (I’ve been with her at many functions and, while engaged in conversation, she is constantly scanning the crowd to see if there’s someone better with whom to speak and also where the nearest photog is. She is an ill-mannered woman, although her husband, and her rep, with whom I’ve always seen her, are much more pleasant.) Which brings me to Luann. Luann is a beautiful woman – but that’s about the nicest thing I can say about her. She stirs the pot – she did it when you were on the show – and she is still doing it. Without a sidekick in her court, a la Jill, she is just mean. As for “designer dressgate,” I don’t think the argument was over dresses at all. Carol was upset that Luann would take advantage of their brand new association/friendship to get something for her own personal gain. It didn’t have to be dresses. It could have been dental services or anything else in the world. The fact that designers lend dresses all the time is besides the point. Luann, who didn’t have a working or personal association with Naeem Khan, dropped Carol’s name. In doing so, Naeem thought Carol (whom he loves) was friends with Luann. He probably thought, “her friends are my friends” and Luann was able to take advantage. I understand how Carol could be upset – plus the fact that no one on the couch addressed the real issue, frustrated her further and she just dropped out of the conversation. (As a lady, I might add. She did not involve herself in a shouting match with Luann. Stayed above the fray, even to the last show.) Lastly, why was Luann so horrified when Carol commented that Naeem Khan dresses Michele Obama? She seemed downright insulted to be lumped into the same category as, hm, well, as a person who also wears clothing from J.Crew or as the First Lady? Either way, her reaction was offensive and rude. And, imo, Michele Obama has style and grace, two characteristics that the Countess certainly lacks. I’m glad she was on the far end of the couch. Money can’t buy you class, indeed.

Only one more Alex vlog left.   I’m sad already

    • Steven

Great recap Alex!  ITA bout Carole.  I was really liking her at first, but now she’s bugging me like crazy.  She always acts sooooo above it all cuz she’s seems so convinced she’s way too A-list & her poop don’t stink.  It’s tired & annoying already.  She needs to get over herself.  Aviva’s back-story was very moving.  Does this justify her saying & doing the horrible things that she said & did?  No way.  People are still gonna hate her.  She’s better off concentrating on the charity work she’s done – if she really did do this charity work.  The best scene ever on RHONY was when.that sweet young boy got those substitute legs.  That was such a beautiful & moving scene — wasn’t it, Alex?  Aviva made that happen — or so it seemed..  So it’s hard for me to believe she’s a horrible person — even if based just a tiny bit on this supremely kind act.

      • http://twitter.com/mccordalex Alex McCord

I agree about the scene with the boy receiving new legs– it was amazing and moving.

    • Elle

I don’t think Carole feels “above it all”; she comes across as a laid back person. I think she finds the antics of all the housewives rather amusing and boring for the most part. Boring being the operative word, I think RHONY is now past its’ expiration date. Bravo needs to put the show to bed along with RHONJ. Alex you’re the only person who has kept things fun and interesting this season! Kudos to Rumorfix.

      • notesonstyleandfashion blog

I don’t think Carole thinks she’s above it all either.

On the front that you, Alex, and Bethenny have been the only housewives to talk to LuAnn when she’s done something bothersome, I wouldn’t say that it’s the whole truth. Whether it was DesignerDressgate or WarWhoopgate, Carole did speak up and say something to LuAnn in both instances. In the case of the dress, she even did that one on one. Perhaps you’re talking about getting into screaming matches with LuAnn, in which case it was both Bethenny’s and your prerogative, but I don’t agree that you two have been the only women to have called out LuAnn. There’s more than one way to call out LuAnn, and I felt that both Carole and Heather did it just fine without having to go Sonja ripping Aviva a new one style.

    • Anonymous

Aviva has no business questioning Ramona or Sonja’s behavior particularly accusing Sonja of hooking up while on vacation in St Barths, while her own father, vulgar George, runs around acting like a pervert. Aviva seems almost proud of her fathers inappropriate behavior around women he’s just met, but labels Ramona & Sonja “trailor trash”. In my opinion George’s behavior is borderline sexual harrasment. As for Aviva’s tirade on Ramona throwing her “80 yr” old father out of a charity event he wasn’t invited to is ridiculous!  That man chased Ramona around that charity and made a complete fool and nuisance out of himself, attacking her I’m sure by his daughter Aviva’s request. Don’t insinuate your father is feeble and elderly, then send him in to handle your business!  Aviva needs to grow up, her fighting sounds very much like my teenagers, she just seems very immature, and not brought up properly.

Hi Alex! Loved the blog, as usual, and you looked great last week on Couples’ Therapy. One reminder, though… Carole did call LuAnn out in person about asking to borrow a dress from her designer friend Naeem.

Please, please, please let this be true and LuMan is history!!!

    • Goergie Porgie

Alex, you’re like a former president in that you look years younger, more refreshed and more radiant than you did in office (on the show).  I would imagine being on that show would be incredibly stressful and feel unnatural. You were spot on about how Carol cannot act “above it all” when she is actually on it. She comes off as condescending, albeit unintentionally.  I also wish she would pick a damn lane instead of wavering between two lanes.  I had never caught that about Carol before, but you make a good point.  I did think Heather tried to confront Luanne but as she mandated during part one of the reunion, Luanne only hears what she wants to hear.
Something feels off this season, unbalanced–as if the housewives are trying to conjure up strife and drama where it doesn’t exist.  I don’t even think the countess slept with Johnny Depp, but put up so much smoke and mirrors to make it appear that she did in order to create drama, to create interest,
I miss you and your hubby–will try and catch your Couples Therapy this week,

      • Goergie Porgie

It doesn’t explain or excuse her redundant bullying of both Ramona and Sonja–it is completely irrelevant,  It might explain her phobias but nor her boorish behavior.  As Ramona said, she kept coming after them again, and again,,,,,,,and again,  By the third hit, it stops being a impulse control issue, it becomes premeditated bullying,

    • Anonymous

      Alex,
It seems that not only will others refrain from calling LuMan out- have you noticed that Sonjia always rushes to her defence? Even in her blogs she excuses her behaviour. She defended her when LuMan and Jacques conspired to trick Romona at the wine tasting. Given that Ramona is supposed to be her best friend, I was surprised. She defended LuMan’s pirate transgression in St Barths writing in her blog that she is still “officially single”. She sided with LuAnn on the issues with Carole even writing- “I dont like capes anyway”. Then I read something that she has stayed with LuMan at her fabulous house in The Hamptons. Sonjia seems to write her blogs from various exotic locations but seems to slip in that she is the guest of some friend. I’m starting to think that Sonjia is a free loader and perhaps she wants to keep LuAnn sweet so that should Romana be in the city one sunny summer weekend- she’s got LuAnn’s place to crash. What do you know?

    • Leslie

      Great job Alex!

I was shocked by Ramona and Sonja’s reaction to Aviva’s story. I say GOD BLESS to Andy Cohen I would not be able to stay in the same room with those two. Thee are times when I am watching these reunion shows that I long for the old days of  TV, I would love to see someone pull an OLD TIME “JERRY SPRINGER” chair throw.

…and yet, here YOU are, Masshole6002, trolling the internet looking for her

I miss Alex and Simon!!!  I wish that they would get their own show talking about all of the reality shows!!!

Thanks for the insight.  It makes it more fun to watch the show when you know something about how the Housewives shows really work.

Carole is a sneak. She is passive aggressive – says mean things, then laughs saying she is joking. I think she is a snake with no back bone. Ugh. Can’t stand her. She admits that she thinks the women are idiots – basically she is on the show to appear cool and exploit the women.

      Carole BUGS me

Heather thinks she is Judge Judy. Enough Heather.

Hopefully LuMan will disappear from the face of Earth… because this tramp my find a way to come back in another channel even if in a different country… I just can’t with this woman… what an annoying broad!

As for the people criticizing Carole, you probably don’t get her sense of humor… neither understands the whole designer/borrowing dress story.

And even if – EVEN IF – Carole had really been rude, she’s a 100% correct: LuMan is not, and will never be, an A Lister… same applies to all housewives and people in reality TV. Sorry, Alex… love you, adore you… but even you are not an A Lister… and… GIRL… Couples Therapy… really???????? I saw the promo of you falling down… that’s bad, girl… call your lawyer and get out of that stinking mess!
