Nicki Minaj fans have been scratching their heads ever since these lyrics hit the Internet:

“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy bitches is f–king up the economy.”

But on Monday, she broke her silence after President Obama appeared on Power 95.3′s Obie and Lil’ Shawn saying, “I’m not sure that’s actually what happened — I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”

Nicki took to Twitter to explain she’s happy Obama was in on the joke:

The hip hop star, who reportedly is in negotiations to join the judging panel on American Idol, has been a long-time supporter of the president. In April 2008 during an interview with Spate magazine, she endorsed then-Senator Obama.

That’s why the lyrics stunned her fans. But, as RumorFix reported, all of this may not even matter, because the singer isn’t even registered to vote.
