American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are denying a report published by TMZ they’re already at each other’s throats. TMZ claimed on Monday that during one of the tapings, Mariah repeatedly interrupted Minaj whenever she spoke, infuriating the rapper who eventually started speaking over Carey.
Minaj, who was announced as judge over the weekend, and Carey both agreed that there’s no longstanding feud as suggested by TMZ, which would make sense because the two have worked together in the past.
“How are we gonna feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that],” Mariah responded at an American Idol presser on Monday evening, causing all the judges to bursts into laughter. “It’s fun, it’s music, it’s singing, it’s laughter,” she added.
For now, we’re going to take Mariah’s words at face value; but we concede, these two women are definitely divas and we expect things to become catty at some point.
Minaj, Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson will be taking up judging honors this season.
