Picking the judges for American Idol had more suspense than the show’s finale.
Dim the lights, here we go.
Ryan Seacrest did the honors of announcing the new lineup on Facebook:
“It’s official, your new American Idol judges are Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson! Everyone gave a heartfelt toast about being on the show after we ate last night.”
Last week, RumorFix revealed the producer’s dream team and had learned they all were in hot and heavy contract negotiations. But talk for Enrique Iglesias fell apart last week. Randy, Jackson, who –as Mariah’s manager — secured her the deal, was going to be demoted to “mentor,” but Enrique’s loss was Randy’s gain.
And just Saturday, Keith announced he wasn’t doing a second second of The Voice Australia, which signaled he was bound for Idol.
The new crew is in New York and they are beginning to see their first contestants on Sunday.
