In 2005, Paris Hilton was named grand marshal of the Gay Pride Parade in Los Angeles — it shocked the gay community because the socialite was only known for a sex tape and saying “That’s Hot.”
But at the time her publicist said, “She has an enormous number of gay and lesbian friends and is very supportive. She’s excited to do it. Paris believes in equality for everybody.”
On Thursday, her former publicist, who happens to be Rob Shuter — a columnist for Huffington Post — is simply saying he’s “sad” after hearing the audiotape of the socialite calling gays “disgusting” and saying they probably have AIDS.
Paris Hilton made the shocking comments while riding in a cab on September 7 talking to a friend about about the Grindr app, which has a built in GPS and allows gays to meet up with others in their neighborhood.
(A similar app called Blendr exists for heterosexuals).
At one point on the audio, Paris says, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS.”
Paris’ rep says, “”Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease.”
