The best part of Total Recall is the human-techno morphing: the three-breasted woman (yes we saw nipple) and the cellphone embedded in Colin Ferrell’s hand. RumorFix was invited to the premiere of the film at Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Wednesday night and we are happy to review the sci-fi flick for you now.

I loved seeing Colin’s character, Douglas Quaid, use the high-tech gadgets. He would answer his hand when the phone rang — and when he wanted to do teleconferencing, he simply placed his hand on a piece of glass and a display hologram appeared.

His refrigerator has digital photos and messages instead of your grandma’s magnets. A retinal scan gets him inside a building and the synthetic army of robots uses artificial intelligence to determine the difference between right and wrong.
Colin, who I’m told is so invested in his film he does press junkets without lunch breaks, is fantastic in this movie — he’s buff and is definitely action hero material.
The Irish hunk plays a factory worker who is bored with his job and needs some spice in his life. You can’t keep your eyes off of the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale, who plays Lori, his badass wife without a hair out of place. Jessica Biel is a sympathetic freedom fighter.

The beginning of the movie is so confusing it took me at least 20 minutes to catch up and start understanding what was going on. I was with three other people, who agreed with me– in fact, one friend said it took him 30 minutes to figure things out.
So, I am going to save you some time by explaining what’s going on.

It’s the end of the 21st century and chemical warfare destroyed most of Earth except the United Federation of Britain and a placed called “Colony,” which looks a lot like Australia.
All of the city scenes in the Colony look ethereal — an industrial and mechanical futuristic city that reaches into the sky. All of the buildings appear as though they are connected with each other but they don’t touch the ground.
That’s where Colin character lives with Kate. On a lark, Colin goes to Rekall, a place with a brain scanner that takes away your present life and gives you a memory you wish you had. It’s like when you have a really good dream and you don’t want to wake up from.
Things go wrong and the action begins with Colin on the run. He is joined by Melina — the freedom fighter played by Jessica Biel. For all you action movie fans once you get through this confusing beginning, you’ll enjoy the ride.
Total Recall is rated PG-13. It’s got some sci-fi violence and brief nudity — the three breasted woman!
