Just weeks after being publicly humiliated by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson made his first appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Stewart didn’t skirt around asking the charming British actor about the breakup, but kept things light by breaking out two one-pint cups of ice cream.

“This is the weird thing about these interviews … the biggest problem in my life is I’m cheap,” Pattinson explained. “And I didn’t hire a publicist. And most actors, what they say [on TV] is scripted.”

“I’m going to hire a publicist,” the Twilight star joked nervously while trying to avoid talking about Kristen directly.

Stewart, stuffing his face with ice cream, told Pattinson he was better “kicking that girl to the curb,” to which British heartthrob chuckled. After taping the Comedy Central show Rob attended the New York premiere of Cosmopolis, wearing a stunning blue suit with a black tie. Most of the shots of the Twilight star reveal a stoic stare,  but once in a while he did crack a smile.

Last month, Kristen Stewart admitted to having an affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
