LeAnn Rimes got into a contentious exchange with a Twitter follower on Wednesday after the user brought up the affair that led LeAnn and her first husband Dean Sheremet to split.

“@Kellilleslie, @Leannrimes She cheated with [Eddie Cibrian] and broke up her marriage and his. Far as I’m concerned, that ship has sailed and they need to move on,” LauraJames00 wrote.

Rimes responded to the tweet, by writing: “correction … we broke up our own marriages.” She later added, “cause people have nothing better to do than judge something they know nothing about.”

“Well, then you better prove to others what you did was right by staying together so you can get your fan base back. Otherwise the breakups and your marriage were all for nothing” LauraJames00 replied. ”Good luck to you. And you might not want to believe this, but your fans hate you and your career is in the sh*tter.”

“@LauraJames00 @kellilleslie excuse me? I have nothing to ‘prove.’ We are happy and my fans are wonderful and no one is perfect. All I need to speak to about me and my sins is the good lord. Remember you can’t break what’s already broken. I’m not anything like what you read about. It’s all lies and anything you’ve read about no matter who or where it comes from … well, let’s just say its a game for so many to hurt others. Time to move on, everyone else has.”

LeAnn has since blocked her Twitter rival.
