Joan Rivers, Rihanna Square Off Over Chris Brown

Joan Rivers is being criticized after making a crude joke about Rihanna and Chris Brown’s turbulent relationship. Earlier this month, Rihanna revealed to the world that she’s still in love with her ex that brutally attacked her on a February 2009 night. Some praised Rihanna’s openness, while others, such as Rivers, loathed it.

“Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s MY turn to slap her.”

That bit about slapping didn’t sit well with Rihanna who responded by tweeting:

“CONTROL YOUR SPEECH!”

She also accompanied the line with a passage from Proverbs 15:4 titled, “Control Your Speech.” Rihanna’s fans also took Rivers to task on Twitter, with some writing things like:

“I bet your brain is made of plastic too, @Joan_Rivers,” and “Rihanna would slap you back, the only difference is that your face would fall right off.”

Joan is a comedian who has made a living off crude jokes, but do you think this one has crossed the line?

      Joan Rivers is disgusting! She’s built a career on being rude, crude and obnoxious at other people’s exspense!

      She should keep her nasty comments to herself about other people’s business! It’s one thing to talk with friends, and it’s another for her to flap her gums to the media!

      Joan Rivers is an idiot. Domestic violence isn’t a joking matter. Period. She obviously doesn’t understand the complexities involved or she wouldn’t have made such an ignorant comment.

      I think it’s ok actually because it’s stupid women like Rihanna that are basically saying its ok that they get beaten and that women should put up with it and NO THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH IT!!!!!! Rivers was merely making a joke about the fact that it makes Rhianna look somewhat pathetic by not standing up for domestic abuse!!!!!!

      There’s a lot of psychology behind domestic abuse, so I can certainly understand Rihanna still having feelings for Chris Brown. That being said, Joan Rivers has a right to say whatever she wants to say about the matter, too. I don’t think it was inconsiderate. It was a joke, and it certainly does open up a dialogue about the situation.

      To be fair, Rihanna is somewhat wishy washy on the “control your speech” subject. I stopped caring for her when she was upset that a magazine called her a “niggabitch” when she uses words and phrases like that in her songs all the time to describe herself and others. The pot calling the kettle black.
