Are the Real Housewives of Orange County cast buying Twitter followers?

According to Micah Tanous, husband of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Peggy Tanous, the cast may be paying to appear more popular than they really are.

“I just answered a call from the company that is SELLING all the current #RHOC cast their Twitter followers, What a F’ing Joke! Fake likes!?!” tweeted Micah last week. “Current cast members just got pissed I tweeted that… Too funny. Oh god, what do you think these $2500 “PR” agents that promise “social media marketing” are doing. The software only costs $50!”

While it’s hard to prove someone actually bought followers, there are definitely some red flags and suspicious behavior (like suddenly getting tons of followers overnight for no discernible reason, and all the followers being ‘eggs’).

Let’s have a look at some stats via TwitterCounter.com and break it down for the month of August.

ALEXIS BELLINO

Aug 1, 2012 – 312,714 followers

Aug 3, 2012 – Drops to 299,960 followers

Aug 7, 2012 – Rises to 307,371 followers

Aug 9, 2012 – Suddenly goes up to 338,121 followers

Alexis gained 30,750 followers in just two days!

TAMRA BARNEY

Aug 1, 2012 – 329,992 followers

Aug 4, 2012 – 330,873 followers

Aug 7, 2012 – 331,848 followers

Aug 9, 2012 – 332,399 followers

Tamra has gained 2,407 new followers since Aug 1.

GRETCHEN ROSSI

Aug 1, 2012 – 323, 340 followers

In conclusion, Alexis seems to be the only one who got a sudden, very dramatic jump in followers in August. This is very unusual when the current season is not airing.

      Of course she bought followers – and all day yesterday she kept tweeting that crap about Nordstroms sending her a letter, telling her they loved her.  It’s utter bullshit, and I’d be more impressed if she tweeted a pic of the letter.  However, if I worked for Nordstrom’s, I’d totally lie to her dumb ass about it when asked – can you IMAGINE how awkward it was when she asked them if they said that about her?  At least Tamra owns her bad behavior, Alexis would like us to believe that she is so perfect – I see the way she treats her friends, so why would store employees be treated with any more respect?  Alexis, we know you’re a LIAR, I’d have so much more respect for you if you would own your bad behavior, but as far as I’m concerned, you’re FAKE.

      ok, well I am one of her new followers and probably during that time, but I was not bought! ha ha…I missed most of the season and they had aired some reruns which is when I got to see some of the mean girl stuff…but then, someone ((not sure Bravo or what)) posted how dumb she was in her tweets and FB and I was like…sign me up!  I love some craziness.  Maybe it is that?  I mean, I doubt Jim would let her spend money on buying friends…doesn’t seem like they have much to waste! ha ha ha

      for those of you making comments about PR agencies, you obviously don’t work in PR… there’s a retainer fee typically. so whatever social media marketing is promised, if it is, has never with any clients i’ve worked with, dealt with “buying” twitters followers. it’s about getting coverage in print and online media, events and maintaining rapport with editors in order to get the coverage and get them to the events to cover the basics. the activity on alexis’ account looks suspicious 100% but if you notice, she also dropped 20,000 followers in 2 days so why would she pay to lose them? that doesn’t make sense.

      Lauri Peterson and her daughter Ashley Zarlin (not a Housewife) jumped from 10,000 to over 35,000 followers in just one month and have not been on the show for 5 years and are   still craving quasi celebrity status by spending every dime that comes in and bragging about it on Twitter.  Just ask George who finally paid his property taxes on his home at the midnight hour before losing it to a Tax Default, but not before $48,000 was accrued in penalties and interest alone.   All public record!  When their financial boat leaves the dock, and it will, they will all cram back into the Peterson house – if it’s still there.

      That said, it’s not just the recent cast who seeks attention, but the Has-Beens who still hang on to their 15 minutes of fame even today!  Sad to think how these people are still living in the past.

          The term “Seem” Lisa, aka Pizza Girl, is a very deep concept.  Most Housewives, “seemingly” appear to have it all together on screen and in the eye of the media. If anyone should know that it would be you!  To coin the cross-eyed twit, Andy Cohen,  “Watch To See What Happens.” 

          If you follow the Brady’s as you say you do, then you, too, know that you don’t jump to more than 20,000 followers in just 1 month when they left the show almost 5 yrs ago.  Money can buy anything, even NO talented, financially troubled, egotistical, people that live in their own world of fantasy and obsession for attention.

      I began following alexis when I saw how her pretend friend gretchen turned on her after gretchen became friends with her arch enemy tamra that obviously hates alexis. And how all the women except vickie attacked her with venomous hearts to set out and destroy her. And Heather is so fake and pretensious more than any of them with her so called profound wisdom and doing it only because she “cares”. Oh give me a break, for real? I saw the hypocrisy of their actions. Gretchen has forgotten who her true friend is and has latched onto the devil woman and somehow I wonder if gretchen hasn’t been playing everyone from the get-go and only pretending to be kind and down to earth when truly she is just as coarse and hard hearted as tamra and as fake as Heather.
