The U.S. women’s soccer team is getting some well-deserved attention at the Olympics, especially after their dramatic 4-3 victory over Canada that launched them to the finals against Japan. Behind all this attention is one key player— 23-year-old, scoring machine Alex Morgan.

Morgan is quickly becoming the new face of U.S. Women’s Soccer and women’s sports for that matter. So just in case you haven’t heard of the pink headband-wearing Olympian, here are a few fun facts you should know about her:
- She has a cute nickname. The team calls her Baby Horse because of her quick speed on the field.
- She gets marriage proposals from fans. Alex is known to get proposals during games and through Twitter. However, she is happily taken by her boyfriend Servando Carrasco, who she met her freshmen year at UC Berkeley. When she is not playing for the national team, the forward is busy scoring goals for the Seattle Sounders Women. Her bf plays for the Seattle Sounders FC— how convenient.
- She’s not afraid of being naked. Alex posed in nothing but body paint for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in February of this year.
- She loves dogs and cats. The soccer star is also a self-proclaimed animal lover and grew up with her dog Lola and three cats.
- Elvis gets her “All Shook Up.” As a young teen, Alex had a fascination with Elvis Presley and even has two giant Elvis posters hanging out in her childhood room.
- She’s a Video Game geek. As a kid, Alex loved playing video games including Mario Kart and Mario Party.
Now doesn’t she sound like fun? Alex and the rest of the U.S Women’s Soccer Team brought home the gold on Thursday.
