The cast of Modern Family is at war with 20th Century Fox over contract negotiations, and is taking their fight into court.
According to legal documents obtained by RumorFix, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and and Ty Burrell are claiming their contracts are void because they violate California labor laws that don’t allow personal service contracts to last longer than seven years.
The cast is asking for a judge to declare their contracts void, and also to make Fox pay for all legal fees incurred, as well as “Such other and further relief as this Court may determine to be just and proper.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox made this offer to the cast:
- Season Four: $150,000 per episode plus a $50,000 per episode bonus
- Season Five:$200,000 per episode
- Season Six: $225,000 per episode
- Season Nine:Up to $325,000 per episode
According to Deadline.com, Ed O’Neill has also joined the suit. A season four table read for Modern Family has been cancelled while the contracts are decided upon.
